COLUMBUS, Ohio—A very heated school levy in the South-Western City school district continues as Election Day approaches.
Issue 47, the districts 7.4 mil levy would restore bussing and bring on pay to play for students along with providing millions of dollars to maintain school operations.
Sunday night, two hours of radio programming on 1230AM was dedicated to the issue, as people from both sides of the levy voiced their concern.
According to Dr. Bill Wise, Superintendent of South-Western City schools, the community is seeing this levy in a different light now
“We’ve eliminated over 350 positions at this point, many of them, 114 are actually classroom over the past three years we’ve lost academic opportunities as well,“ he said.
Wise went on to say that the school board has lowered the mileage to make it more affordable for the community, simply put, the levy would cost an owner of a $100,000 home $18.
